Zimbabwe Weather Report & Forecast: 08 To 10 September 2022

The weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Services Department in conjunction with the Department of Civil Protection.

ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON THURSDAY 08 SEPTEMBER 2022 VALID UNTIL SATURDAY 10 SEPTEMBER 2022.

PREAMBLE

Windy and cloudy morning conditions were experienced in Matabeleland South, parts of Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces.

It was warm and sunny in the afternoon. The rest of the country had cool morning and warm afternoon weather under clear skies.

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, FRIDAY 09 SEPTEMBER 2022

Mostly clear skies are anticipated across the country except for Manicaland province where partly cloudy periods are expected in the morning. It should be cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon with a slight haze.

  • While land preparations are vital at this stage, those engaged in such on-farm and other outdoor activities are reminded that it is illegal to start veld fires.
  • The air-pollutant is high at this time of the year; as such people with respiratory challenges such as asthma, hay fever and other allergies may be affected.
  • Fluctuation of temperatures between night and day may affect the body’s health, with common colds, influenza, and fever, as well as asthma, being common.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

  • Veld fires are extensive so farmers are expected to construct fire guards that are at least 9 metres wide and free of burning vegetative matter.
  • Astronomers and potential astronomers can take advantage of clear skies to see stars and planets.
  • Antihistamines, respirators or inhalers should be on standby for those prone to respiratory illnesses.
  • All farmers are urged to reduce the amount of grass on their farms and residential properties through hay baling, thatch and broom grass harvesting as a fire prevention measure.

  • Matopos: Sunny and mild (Temperatures – 09/24)
  • Chimanimani: Partly cloudy and warm (Temperatures – 10/25)

OUTLOOK: WEATHER FORECAST FOR TUESDAY 06 SEPTEMBER 2022 

Brief cloudy periods are expected in Beitbridge, Chiredzi, Mwenezi and Chipinge Districts, with Matabeleland South, Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces being windy and cold in the morning. These provinces are anticipated to be mild by day and cold overnight.

All other areas should be sunny and warm by day, but cold both morning and evening.
