The Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe has released a weather report and forecast for the period 01 – 03 September 2022. Pindula News presents the report and forecast below:
PREAMBLE
ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON THURSDAY 01 SEPTEMBER 2022 VALID UNTIL SATURDAY 03 SEPTEMBER 2022.
Cold, cloudy and windy conditions were experienced over the southern parts of the main watershed with Kezi, West Nicholson, Zaka, Masvingo, Buhera, Chivhu, Chipinge, Wedza, Rusape and Marondera experiencing some light drizzle this morning. In All other areas, it was mostly sunny mild and windy.
FORECAST FOR TOMORROW FRIDAY 02 SEPTEMBER 2022
A brief cloudy period with a slight chance of drizzle is expected in Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces. All other areas are expected to be mostly sunny, and windy with cool morning conditions and slight haze. It is anticipated to become warm by midday.
• The decrease of temperatures from warm to cool daytime conditions may affect the health of vulnerable members of society.
• Outdoor activities may need to be planned in line with projected light drizzle and rain, as well as the cooling winds.
• Winds tend to increase the rate of spread of veldt fires. with some becoming uncontrollable
ACTIONS TO TAKE:
• The public is encouraged to safeguard against the spreading of wildfires by constructing fireguards that are maintained free from combustible matter and are at least 5(five) meters wide.
• All farmers are urged to reduce the amount of grass on their farms and residential properties through hay baling. thatch and broom grass harvesting as a fire prevention measure
• Dress appropriately with the projected fall in temperatures.
• The current Fire danger rating is significant and small fires have the potential to cause uncontrollable veld fires during this period.
