Zimbabwe Weather Report & Forecast: 02 To 04 September 2022

The weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Services Department in conjunction with the Department of Civil Protection.

ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON FRIDAY 02 SEPTEMBER 2022 VALID UNTIL SUNDAY 04 SEPTEMBER 2022. 

PREAMBLE

Severe ground frost occurred at Matopos and Kezi whilst West Nicholson and Masvingo had slight ground frost with clear skies and cold morning conditions prevailing in Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo metropolitan, Midlands and Masvingo Provinces.

All other remaining provinces started with cloudy morning conditions and became less cloudy as the day progressed. It was warm by midday across the country.

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW SATURDAY 03 SEPTEMBER 2022

Clear skies and cool morning conditions with slight haze are anticipated in the southern parts of the country becoming warm by midday.

Morning ground frost is probable in frost-prone areas such as Matopos, Kezi, and Masvingo.

In the northern parts of the country, it should be mostly sunny with cool morning conditions. It should be warm by the afternoon.

IMPACTS

  • Dry conditions increase the chances of runaway veldt fires.
  • Temperatures are gradually rising over much of the country, this, in turn, increases the risk of dehydration in vulnerable members of the society.
  • Cold nighttime conditions may affect vulnerable members of society.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

  • The public is urged to safeguard against the spreading of wildfires by constructing fireguards that are maintained free from combustible matter and are at least 9 (nine) meters wide.
  • Avoid starting uncontrolled fires.
  • Keep hydrated and avoid prolonged periods in direct sunlight.
  • Keep warm at night.

OUTLOOK: WEATHER FORECAST FOR SUNDAY 04 OCTOBER 2022

Cold and cloudy conditions should continue over the rest of the country with light drizzle expected in Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, southern areas of Midlands, southern areas of Mashonaland East, Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces.

Clear skies and warm conditions are expected in Mashonaland West and Matabeleland North, with brief cloudy periods and mild daytime conditions in all other areas.
