Man Robbed Of US$3 000 By A Money Changer

A 27-year-old man who had travelled all the way from Rusape to Harare was robbed of US$3 200 by an unidentified man who was posing as a foreign currency dealer.

The complaint had met the suspect in a WhatsApp group.

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the complainant was lured into a Honda Fit vehicle ostensibly to change the money but was then threatened with a pistol. ZRP said:

Police in Harare are investigating a robbery case, which occurred on August 19 at corner Samora Machel and 6th Street in which a man (27) lost US$3 200 cash to an unknown forex dealer whom he met on a WhatsApp group.

The complainant had travelled from Rusape and was lured to get into a silver Honda Fit vehicle (registration number not captured) before the suspect produced an unidentified pistol and stole the money.
