August Holiday Accidents In Sharp Decline
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the statistics on road traffic accidents recorded during the 2022 Heroes and Defence Forces Holidays.
The total number of road traffic accidents, fatalities and injuries fell significantly compared to those recorded during the same period last year.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said in total, 102 road traffic accidents were this year compared to 157 recorded during the 2021 Heroes and Defence Forces Holidays.
The total number of fatal road traffic accidents was down to 3 in 2022 from the 11 recorded in 2021.
The total number of people killed in 2022 was 3 while 20 people lost their lives in accidents during the Heroes and Defence Forces Holidays last year.

In 2022, 10 people were injured while in 2021, a total of 24 people were injured according to the report by the police.
Meanwhile, police blamed the accidents on speeding, inattention, misjudgement, reversing and overtaking errors.
