UPDATE: Cash Pickup Still Supported, Only Bank Transfers Discontinued- WorldRemit

WorldRemit, a British-based digital payments service, has clarified that it remains “fully committed to Zimbabwe through cash pickup” adding that only bank transfers have been discontinued.

The digital payments service announced its removal of direct bank transfers to Zimbabwean accounts in favour of mostly cash transactions with effect from the 29th of June.

In response to our article titled: UK-based Digital Payments Service, WorldRemit Stops Direct Bank Transfers To Zimbabwean Accounts, the digital payments service emphasised that cash pickups had not been discontinued. Said WorldRemit:

Hi Pindula, we remain fully committed to Zimbabwe through cash pickup, mobile money or airtime. We’re just no longer supporting bank transfers starting June 29, 2022. That is based on our (in)ability to provide the best possible product and services. Thanks!

In Zimbabwe, recipients of WorldRemit transfers can collect the money at Steward Bank
