VP Chiwenga To Explore Possibility Of Arms Purchase In Indonesia | Report

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is in Indonesia for a week-long visit in Indonesia with the objective of boosting economic ties between Zimbabwe and the Asian nation.

Chiwenga arrived in Jarkata on Sunday and will hold talks with Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin to discuss ways to enhance bilateral economic relations.

According to the online publication Antaranews.com, Chiwenga will visit the state-owned weaponry industry PT Pindad in Bandung to explore the possibility of arms purchase.

Indonesian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Dewa Made J. Sastrawan, who will accompany Chiwenga during his visit to Indonesia, on Monday said:

The high-level visit shows that Indonesia-Zimbabwe bilateral relations have increased, particularly with strong economic ties between the two countries.

Chiwenga is also expected to visit the state-owned pharmaceutical industry Bio Farma in Bandung, West Java, to explore the possibility of cooperation between Zimbabwe and Indonesia, particularly in the pharmaceutical field.

Chiwenga, who is the Minister of Health and Childcare, will hold talks with Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunawan Sadikin.

The two will discuss the expansion of cooperation in the development of public health, health services, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Chiwenga will also attend a Sanitation Water for All (SWA) meeting held by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), UNICEF, and SWA on 18-19 May.

The meeting, held as part of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency, will be opened by President Joko Widodo on Wednesday, 18 May.
