His death comes when Zimbabwe is grappling with a coronavirus resurgence that has seen new infections and COVID-19 deaths surge in recent weeks.
The surge is attributed to complacency and the highly contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus that was first discovered in India.
Authorities believe the variant is already in the country after a Kwekwe businessman who died last month tested positive for the variant.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Child Care is encouraging members of the public to get vaccinated to increase the chances of surviving the novel virus.
Tight measures including a dusk to dawn curfew have been imposed on the country to curb the spread and transmission of the virus.
