ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON WEDNESDAY 23 JUNE 2021 VALID UNTIL FRIDAY 25 JUNE 2021.

PREAMBLE

Partly cloudy conditions were experienced across the country yesterday into today. It was cold this morning in most areas with slight ground frost reported at Chipinge. Meanwhile, the atmosphere is drying out from the west.

FORECAST

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW THURSDAY 24 JUNE 2021: It should be cold in the early morning hours in all areas with a slight ground frost in areas such as Matopos, Kezi, Masvingo, Gweru, Chivhu, Marondera, Henderson and Chipinge. However, it is expected to be mild in the afternoon.

All Mashonaland Provinces, Harare Metropolitan and northern parts of Manicaland are anticipated to have partly cloudy conditions, while the rest of the country is mostly sunny.

IMPACTS

  • Cold conditions may affect the health of all persons, however, persons of an ill disposition, the elderly and young children tend to be more vulnerable.
  • Low temperatures, especially in the early hours of the morning, negatively impact poultry and some crops.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

  • Keep warm by wearing appropriate winter attire, where possible stay indoors.
  • Ensure that vulnerable members of society are kept warm, especially overnight.
  • Avoid brazier or open fire to keep warm, in an unventilated room to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Closely monitor the temperatures within fowl-runs and adjust accordingly.
  • COVID is still a potential threat, stay safe, mask up, get vaccinated.
  • If one is dependent on solar, ensure the load is minimised when charging is not optimal.

OUTLOOK

All areas should be mostly sunny and mild in the day, cold in the morning and towards the evening.

Slight to moderate ground frost is expected in Matopos, Kezi, Masvingo, Gweru, Chivhu, Marondera, Henderson, Chipinge, Nyanga and Mukandi.
