Arubi Named Nedbank Cup Goalkeeper Of The Tournament

Washington Arubi was named the Nedbank Cup goalkeeper of the tournament after leading his South African side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) to the Nedbank Cup with a 1-0 win over Chippa United in the final on Saturday night.

During the course of the tournament, the former Warriors goalkeeper kept four clean sheets in five matches.

In yesterday’s match, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo’s solitary goal inspired the Limpopo club to its first-ever major trophy at the Free State Stadium.

En route to the final, TTM dismissed the star-studded Mamelodi Sundowns side  6-5 on penalties following a 0-0 draw in the semi-finals last month. In the earlier rounds, they disposed of SuperSport United, Swallows FC and Black Leopards, all Premiership sides.

TTM won a whopping R7m in prize money and will be further rewarded with a place in the next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
