6-year-old Girl Found Dead In Neighbour's Septic Tank
A six-year-old girl was found dead in a neighbour’s septic tank in Nyika village in Masvingo amid reports that there was a feud between the two families.
The deceased, Mitchel Musharu, was first reported missing on 17 April after she disappeared from the backyard of her father’s shop where she was playing.
Narrating the ordeal Jeppy Jaboon, who is an uncle to the deceased, said a search party was established on the day Musharu went missing and it included the owners of the house she was later found in.
Speaking to Zim Morning Post, Jaboon who is a former Zanu PF member of parliament for Bikita South constituency said:
When we realised that my niece was missing as a community we set up a search party consisting of the owners of the house she was later found in and we did not find her on the day.

Her mother could hear faint screams coming from the house and she tried to confront the owners of the house who dismissed her claims leaving the search party to go around the community searching for my niece.
When we failed to locate her, my sister could not believe losing her daughter so she went to the backyard of her neighbour’s shop only to see the shoe outside and that’s when she alerted the neighbours.
Jaboon added that the deceased was found in a sack in the septic tank her appearance suggesting that she was strangled to death.
Police were later alerted and the parents are waiting for the post mortem results.
The motive of the alleged murder is not yet known but a neighbour who spoke to Zim Morning Post suspected that the death of Musharu might have been motivated by a feud that existed between her father and their neighbour.
Cases of child murder across the country have been rampant since 2019 with most of the victims being used for ritual purposes by rogue elements.
