Highlanders To Face Dynamos In The Independence Cup

Long term rival football clubs Highlanders FC and Dynamos FC will lock horns on 18 April 2021 in the President’s Independence Day Trophy, the Chronicle reports. This was revealed by the Minister of Information, Broadcasting and Publicity Monica Mutsvangwa who in a post-cabinet briefing said:

Two most popular clubs, Dynamos and Highlanders, will compete for honours in the President’s Independence Day Trophy under strict WHO protocols and national guidelines to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The match will be the first game to be played since the SRC allowed football and other non-contact sports to resume following the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak that halted many sporting activities due to its pestilential elements.

The 2 clubs have competed during the Independence cup for the last 16 years and they have both won 8 trophies each.
