US-Based Zimbabwean Hammers Wife, Sets Family House On Fire
A US-based Zimbabwean man is facing a lengthy jail term after hammering his wife before setting their family house on fire.
ZimLive reports that the 52-year-old Golden Makusha, of 9600 Morning Walk Drive, Hagerstown, Maryland is charged with:
- One count of first-degree assault
- One Count of second-degree assault
- arson in the first degree
- two counts of reckless endangerment
- Other offences.
Here are the details that have been released by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office so far:
- Golden and his wife had recently come back from a trip to Zimbabwe.
- On the fateful day, his wife woke up to her husband beating her with a hammer, and he tried to strangle her and then assaulted her with open arms when one of their children tried to intervene.
- The children called 911 and paramedics came and while they were attending to Makusha’s wife, they saw smoke coming out of the couple’s garage.
- When firefighters came in they saw Makusha lying unconscious in the garage lying next to a fire lighting liquid.
- Makusha was transferred to Meritus Medical Center and he was later on flown to Bay View Burn Center for further treatment.
No one else was injured in the incident apart from the couple. The US-based Zimbabwean is still in hospital where he is being treated for burns sustained after setting the house on fire.
Details of what might have caused the incident are not known for now.
