South Africa Approves Another COVID-19 Vaccine

South Africa’s Health Products Regulatory Authority has approved the use of another COVID-19, the Pfizer/BioNtech Comirnaty Vaccine.

The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority says the vaccine’s efficacy and safety will be continuously monitored.

South Africa has since ordered 20 million doses of the vaccine, but it’s not yet known when it will arrive.

The South African government began its vaccination rollout campaign with the Johnson and Johnson vaccine last month.

The South African government had temporarily put the vaccine rollout on hold because of findings that the AstraZeneca vaccine was not effective against mild and moderate Covid-19 infection from the B. 1.351 variant.
South Africa is the most affected African country.
