When our team got there they discovered that the suspect was a tenant at the residence and had been staying there for a year now. We did not discover the guns but 225 rounds of ammunition which were in a track bottom.
We are yet to arrest the suspect and appeal to members of the public to give us any information that may assist to locate him and bring him to book.
Nyathi warned members of the public who illegally possess firearms, adding that offenders would face the wrath of the law.
This comes at the backdrop of a surge in the number of reported armed robberies around the country where live ammunition is being used.
Recently, it was reported that armed robbers pounced on two service stations in Bulawayo, bound attendants, sold fuel for three hours, collected the money and disappeared.
Fears abound that lawlessness will rise if the government does not take stern measures before it is too late.
