Bulawayo Medical Facilities Offer Discounted Services To Artists

Dumisani “MaForty” Ndlovu, a Zimbabwean comedian engaged medical facilities in Bulawayo in a bid to secure discounted medical services for artists in the second-largest city.

He observed that a number of artists are missing out on the discounted medical services. Maforty said:

9th Avenue Surgery rolled out a medical facility for artists in Bulawayo to get consultation at 50% and when it comes to drips, injections, and dressing it will be retail cost prices. Now, there’s a lab onboard which will offer 25% on all Hematology (blood), urology (urine), and body chemistry tests.

Procare Lab in Bulawayo will offer 25% on all tests while Vitamind Pharmacy will supply the injections at discounted prices just for artistes.

But, unfortunately, because of low uptake of the facility, the numbers are not encouraging these players to offer discounts on dispensary medication but we hope, eventually they wil.

Meanwhile, Procare Clinical laboratory marketing and administration officer Wendy John Chapfuwa said the idea of offering discounted services especially to artists was to make health care “in such trying times available and accessible to all parties of society.”

The arts industry is one of the sectors that was hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic as artists depend mainly on live shows therefore the medical facilities’ initiative to offer discounted services is expected to assist artists who are struggling to make ends meet.
