No Vaccine Side Effects, I'm 100 Per Cent Okay - VP Chiwenga
Minister of Health and Child Care Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has said he has not experienced any side effects from the Chinese-made Sinopharm vaccine.
Chiwenga was vaccinated two weeks ago at Harare City Council’s Wilkins Infectious Diseases Hospital, becoming the first Zimbabwean citizen to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Speaking to journalists at his Kaguvi offices on Thursday, Chiwenga assured the nation that there was nothing wrong with the vaccine. He said:
I didn’t feel anything at all and I am okay. As you have seen I am working and I am fit 100 per cent. There is nothing wrong with this vaccine, the vaccine is intended to save lives.
Chiwenga urged the rest of the citizenry to be inoculated when the opportunity arrives as this is the best way to stop the continued spread of COVID-19. He added:

In this case, this is a pandemic which if not controlled the virus mutates and we will be with it for a long time and we will lose many lives. The best way to stop the spread of this virus is to get vaccinated.
Once one has been vaccinated you have protected yourself and also protected others. This is why we are rushing for what we call the herd immunity of 60 per cent. We are very aware that if we do not do it we will have a big price to pay.
According to statistics availed by the Ministry of Health and Child Care, 2 688 frontline workers were vaccinated on Thursday bringing cumulated vaccinated to 30 658.
The virus has as of Thursday, 4 March 2021, infected 36 233 people, of which 33 632 have recovered while 1 483 have died.
