The Zimbabwean Consulate in Pretoria has written the following notice stating they have resumed issuing passports and birth certificates to Zimbabweans in South Africa. This came after South Africa downgraded its lockdown to level one last month. In the statement announcing the development, the embassy said:
UPDATE ON CONSULAR SERVICES UNDERGO ALERT LEVEL ONE
Reference is made to the Consulate’s public notice issued on 31 December 2020 relating to consular services under Adjusted Alert Level Three Lockdown.
Please be advised that following the pronouncement by the President of the Republic of South Africa.- His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa, on 28 February 2021, moving South Africa from Adjusted Alert Level Three Lockdown to Alert Level One, the Consulate has accordingly made the following adjustments in relation to consular services during this period:
- The number of appointments per day for <hents seeking birth certificate and passport application services has been restored to six hundred (600).
- The first priority Mil be to serve clients whose appointments were deferred under Adjusted Alert Level Three Lockdown. (These ore appointments which were booked between 4 January and 26 March 2021). All the clients who had confirmed bookings within the stated period will receive individual emails via the email address used to book the original appointment, communicating the new appointment date and time. As such, affected individuals are strongly encouraged to periodically check the emails used to book the initial appointment.
- Once the said appointments have been cleared, the Consulate will proceed to reopen the booking platform for fresh appointments. (It is envisioned that
