Makandiwa’s “I Don’t Like Jesus’ Instruction” Remarks Spark Controversy

Emmanuel Makndiwa’s sermon in which he said “we don’t like Jesus’s instruction” has sparked controversy with some calling him a non-believer.

He was teaching on “love your enemies” from Matthew 5: 44. Jesus had instructed his audience to pray for those who persecuted them. Reads the verse:

Matt 5: 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Responding to the verse, Emmanuel Makandiwa said:

Pray for them, those that are despising us and those that are persecuting us we pray for them? Do you like that? We don’t like that. You see, the reason why we don’t like it it’s against something within us. That goes to show how then power gets unlocked if we are to obey that because it’s not our idea. If we liked that, that would make that our idea, there is no act of obedience, there is no submission to scripture. It has to be something that you don’t enjoy doing and by doing it, it becomes an act of obedience to an external instruction. Something is telling you what to do and that something is not yourself, that something is God.

Below is the part of the sermon which social media users have been quoting.

There is the full video in which he explains what he meant.

    1. He didn’t explain anything that makes sense. The bible statement is simple and straightforward.
      He basically reiterated it going round the mountain, and in this trying to sound as if. He knows more than anyone else.
      I can’t waste my time listening to such stupidity.
      You need your head to be examined if you even listen to this guy, let alone follow him.

      1. Makandiwa was on point. Nothing against the sriptures here. He said it is hard to pray for those that persecute us because we prefer to do the opposite. Real Christians get piwer by taking this difficult perspective. Which perspective is not normal, but God’s.

  1. He is damn on spot and right .It shows he is enlightened teacher.To gain something you need to believe spiritwise not human wise.Abraham was told to sacrifice his son for Gods favor – outrageous. Loving your hater is humanly outrageous but wants done puts you up on a higher spiritual scale consumerate with certain spiritual power or capacitation.For Abraham his power was such that whoever loved him God loved him too; whoever was his enemey so was he an enemy of God too.His was anointed Father of nations!

  2. There is no need for any controversy here. If anything Pastor Makandiwa is actually supporting Jesus’ words [instruction].

  3. Social media vamwe havanakudzidza biblical saka nyika inonetsa kudzidzisa even Jesus vakamuramba siyai Makandiwa musamushupa muri vana venyoka
