Create Bubble Within Schools - ARTUZ To The Govt

ARTUZ has urged the government to create a bubble to contain COVID-19 at boarding schools other than cutting enrolment at boarding schools as a COVID-19 containment measure because the move will disadvantage learners.

Using microblogging site Twitter, ARTUZ said:

We gather that gvt has ordered boarding schools to cut on their enrolment in face of COVID19. We view this as a random call which will disadvantage thousands of learners. We recommend mandatory testing & creation of a bubble within schools.COVID19 risk is also low among children.

A COVID-19 bubble according to BBC News:

A bubble is a group of people with whom you have close physical contact and they have no contact with other people outside the bubble for a specific period of time.

This comes as the government announced that it will announce the 2021 school calendar soon. Schools closed on 18 December 2020 and they were supposed to open on 4 January before the government imposed a national lockdown on 2 January 2021.
