Bio Bubble Concept Impractical - PSL Chairman

Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman, Farai Jere, said that it is not possible for local clubs to adopt the bio bubble concept as a condition for the resumption of football as it is a costly exercise.

Jere insisted that demanding that the bio bubble concept be put in place before football can resume is as good as saying we will not have football until the coronavirus is no more.

According to an online source, bio bubble refers to an environment sealed off from the outside world and accessed by a limited number of people only, used to allow events such as sports matches to take place during the coronavirus.

Jere instead called for rigorous testing of players for coronavirus before matches while they come from home. He said:

Demanding the bio bubble concept to be implemented as a condition for the resumption of football action is as good as saying we will not have football until COVID-19 is over.

We just cannot afford that setup and everyone knows that. We are talking about clubs that did not have any income for a year and yet they honoured their obligations as employers. They paid sign on fees and monthly salaries without any returns.

We can just resume playing with players coming from their homes and only ensure that testing is done regularly.
