Late Businessman, Masamvu Left Will for 12 Wives, 79 Children

The late businessman and former legislator Luke Phibion Masamvu, who is survived by 12 wives and 79 children, left a will which will be read soon, a family member said.

The deceased’s brother, John Masamvu, told The Sunday Mail that a lawyer is handling the late businessman’s estate. He said:

His lawyer called the family after the news of his death and told them that family members should wait on plans to distribute the deceased estate. So we are waiting for directives from the lawyer to move forward on that.

Masamvu had a sprawling business empire, whose interests include retail, farming and transport.

The Zanu PF Central Committee member and former Mutasa North Member of Parliament succumbed to COVID-19 on 30 January.

A legal commentator, Tarinda Mukuno of Mukono and Bote Executors told The Sunday Mail that if a man leaves behind two widows, the senior wife ordinarily gets two-thirds of the estate, with the junior wife getting a third.

Mukono said in the case of multiple widows, the estate is distributed equally among all spouses.
