‘Zimbabweans Are Not Cattle’, Mliswa Slams Tollgate Fees Hike

Temba Mliswa has demanded that the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Transport urgently review the recent hike in tollgate fees by the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA).

The outspoken Mliswa, who is the Member of Parliament for Norton (Independent) and a former ZANU PF provincial chairman, said Zimbabweans are not cattle that you can drive wherever you wish without their resistance. He said:

The relevant Parly Committee should look into this sudden ZINARA tariff hike. We are not cattle that you push into the dip at your will and whim.

Just waking up and announcing new charges without any consultation is wrong. Let’s have respect for people and pre-plan these things.

The USD tariffs are; light motor vehicles US$2, minibuses US$3, buses US$4, heavy trucks US$5 and haulage trucks US$10.

In Zimbabwe dollar terms, the new tariffs are; light motor vehicle $164, minibuses $246, buses $330, heavy trucks $410 and haulage trucks $820.
