Masvingo’s largest water body, Tugwi-Mukosi Dam yesterday for the first time since its commissioning in 2017 started spilling last night, The Herald reports.
The development which follows weeks of constant rains has reportedly sparked flooding fears for downstream rivers like Runde and Tugwi rivers.
ZINWA took to Twitter to share the development in a post that said:
For the first time since its commissioning in 2017, Tugwi-Mukosi is 100 percent full and spilling.
The government is reportedly preparing for the worst since the spilling of the dam was reported. It is believed 250 families living downstream might be severely affected by the overspill.
