Zimbabwe Warriors Lose Second CHAN Match

Zimbabwe’s locally-based senior football men team (Warriors) last night lost 3-1 to Burkina Faso in a CHAN match played at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

This was their second consecutive loss at the tournament after a 1-0 defeat t the hands of the hosts, Cameroon, in the opening match of the CHAN finals in Yaoundé last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Burkina Faso had also lost their first match 1-0 to Mali.

The result means Warriors are out of the competition with no points after two matches and their final group match will be a mere formality.

The Warriors who were without several key players due to injuries and illness after the opening match desperately needed the three points to enhance their chances of going to the next round.

Burkina Faso were the first to score only 14 minutes into the game. The Warriors responded through makeshift midfielder Partson Jaure who scored in the 23rd minute.

The complexion of the game however changed in the second half as Burkina Faso scored two more goals.

Zimbabwe will travel to Douala for their clash with Mali at the Japoma Stadium on Sunday while Burkina Faso will play host play their last group game at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.
