ZRP Deploy Water Cannons In Bulawayo

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has deployed water cannons in Bulawayo Central Business District (CBD) to enforce the national lockdown.

The lockdown was recently imposed in an endeavour to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The new stricter measures came at the backdrop of a resurgence of the coronavirus towards the end of the third quarter of 2020.

The water cannons being deployed are meant to disperse those who will be loitering in the CBD in violation of lockdown regulations.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Abednico Ncube told the Daily News on Sunday they were simply doing their duty to ensure citizens abide by the lockdown regulations. Ncube said:

People violate the lockdown just like other cities and as police, we are doing our job to make sure that people adhere to the law.
