Harare Mayor Granted $40 000 Bail

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume who has been on remand since 11 December 2020 for allegedly trying to bribe a witness in his court case has been granted bail this morning.

This was revealed in a short update posted by the News Hawks that stated that:

Harare mayor Jacob Mafume has been granted ZW$40 000 bail by the High Court.

Mafume was reportedly given the following conditions by the court:

1. Deposit ZWL 40, 000.
2. Report to police every Friday.
3. Reside at his registered home.
4. Not to interfere with witnesses.

Mafume who was reportedly ill and in need of medical attention while in prison was also suspended by Local Government Minister July Moyo together with his Deputy Luckson Mukunguma on 28 December 2020.
