Nottingham Forest Fans React To Darikwa's Move To Wigan

Several Nottingham Forest fans expressed their displeasure on social media over Tendayi Darikwa’s departure from the club to join Wigan Athletic on loan.

Nottingham Forest confirmed that the Warriors full-back had completed a loan move to the Latics and will be at DW Stadium until the end of the current season.

One Reds fan said it was incredible that Cyrus Christie was being selected ahead of Darikwa and that it was a shame to lose the Clifton Cafu.

Darikwa posted an emotional goodbye message to Forest on his Twitter, where he thanked them for sticking with him after his injury. He wrote:

From a young age, I wanted to play for this football club, I’m thankful and grateful for the opportunity to do that. Not the way I imagined it ending but that’s life. Thank you to everyone for the love and support during my time here, especially through last seasons injury.

Below are some of the reactions to Darikwa’s post:

Lewis Morris: “You deserved your shot, at least you can cross a ball unlike Cyrus. True shame to lose the Clifton Cafu. Sash it at Wigan lad! Prove your point”.

Lewis Kingsley: “An absolute joke that Christie gets game time every week when this bloke is around the squad. Gutted, to say the least”

redright24: “Always a favourite player of mine, sad to see you go, I’m biased but I think you should be nearer the first team of not in it at the moment. All the best, I’m sure if you ever return you’ll get a good reception back at your home”.

Debs: “Circumstances were against you but it is a big shame you weren’t at least given a fair chance to show what you could do. You are a true pro and a positive character so I’m sure you’ll do well moving forward. Will be keeping an eye on your progress. Thanks for your efforts.”

George NFFC: “It’s been a pleasure having you in the famous garibaldi red for these past few years good luck in the rest of your career”.

Steve Thornton: “I remember you at Cotgrave and was very please you came to play at Forest… It’s annoying to a Forest fan to see your talent leave especially as your place should be above all others. I wish you all the best my friend”
