Khupe Recalls 2 More MDC Alliance Councillors

MDC-T Acting President, Thokozani Khupe, has recalled two MDC Alliance councillors, Batanai Masunda and Kudakwashe Chatambudza.

Khupe has since the March Supreme Court ruling on the MDC leadership crisis recalled MDC Alliance legislators and councillors for their continued allegiance to her rival Nelson Chamisa.

The recalled members are accused of ceasing to be members of the MDC-T “the party that gave them the ticket into 2018 elections.”

Meanwhile, MDC Alliance members argue that went into the election as members of the MDC Alliance, not MDC-T therefore, Khupe has no legal basis to recall them.

Meanwhile, MDC Alliance recently suffered a blow after the courts upheld Justice Chitapi’s ruling that MDC Alliance does not legally exist as a legal person who can sue in court suggesting that recalled legislators and Councilors should challenge their dismissal as individuals, not as a party.

The ruling has an effect on the fate of MDC Alliance legislators and councillors who were recalled since March by the interim MDC-T leadership for “ceasing to belong to the party.”
