Bail Skipping Murder Suspect Roaming Around The Streets Freely Since 2017 - Report

A man who is suspected to have murdered his girlfriend in 2015 and skipped bail in 2017 is reportedly roaming around the streets of Harare freely since 2017 and has been spotted by members of the public several times despite the police saying they can’t locate him, The Herald reports.

Collin Jamu who is accused of murdering his then-girlfriend Mitchel Chipere in Glen Norah A in 2015 skipped bail in 2017 and he is reportedly staying in Harare’s western suburbs.

Jamu’s own father and the victim’s family are surprised why he has not been apprehended since 2017 as he is hiding in plain sight.

When contacted for comment, ZRP  National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they were still trying to locate him and urged members of the public with information which might lead to his arrest to come forward:

Police are looking for that person who is reportedly on the run. We are urging anyone with information that can help in the arrest of the person to come forward. We want to arrest him so that justice can be done to the case

When police officers from Glen Norah A were asked by reporters why Jamu was still roaming around freely they professed ignorance on the matter and said if members of the public ever see Jamu again they must initiate a citizen’s arrest.
