Air Zimbabwe Resumes Domestic Flights

Air Zimbabwe has resumed domestic flights for Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, in the wake of the easing of local COVID-19 lockdown conditions.

The development comes when thousands of employees in the tourism sector across the world have already lost their jobs as the suspension of flights adversely affected the sector.

Air Zimbabwe Corporate Communications Officer, Firstme Vitori told ZBC News that the resumption of the domestic flights was done in line with World Health Organisation (WHO) and IATA guidelines. Vitori said:

We are happy that our government has cleared us and WHO and IATA has approved our flights, as you can see our staff are well dressed in line with Covid 19 regulations and we are adhering to all recommendations to ensure that our passengers are safe.

So our domestic flights have resumed and we would like to assure our clients that the environment is now conducive to fly.

Vitori further indicated that regional flights will resume in October starting with Tanzania followed by South Africa as well as other routes.

The Airline’s Boeing 737 plane touched down at the upgraded Victoria Falls International Airport for its maiden post-COVID-19 commercial flight early Thursday morning.
