Sports Ministry Matabeleland South Official Commits Suicide

A Deputy Director in the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation’s Matabeleland South Province has committed suicide following a misunderstanding with his wife, the Chronicle reports.

58-year-old Elfas Siziba reportedly hanged himself in the bushes near his house in Gwanda, near NSSA Complex in the Central Business District.

The incident was confirmed by Matabeleland South acting provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Loveness Mangena who said:

I can confirm that we recorded a case of sudden death by hanging near NSSA Complex in Gwanda. Elfas Siziba was last seen by his family on Saturday at around 10PM as he retired to bed. He was found hanging from a tree at around 9AM.The matter was reported to the police who attended the scene and his body was taken to Gwanda Provincial Hospital mortuary.

Sources that spoke to the publication said Soziba left a suicide note that indicated that he had a misunderstanding with his first wife. Over the weekend a Herald Lifestyle editor also committed suicide due to unknown reasons.
