Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which has incapacitated many sectors of the economy globally, CAF has announced it will bail out teams participating in the in 2019/2020 CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup. CAF will give $50 000 to all teams participating to help them cover travel expenses since commercial travel is still restricted in some parts of the continent.
This was revealed by a Ghanaian Sports Journalist Nuhu Adams who Tweeted the update and said:
CAF has decided to support all teams participating in 2019/2020 CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup with an amount of US$50,000 for each travel due to the COVID-19 crises and the lack of commercial flights.
CAF also gave African teams a bailout package to help them during the ongoing pandemic and Zimbabwe is set to receive $300 000 from the African Football Governing body.
