Tapuwa Kapini Eyes Bosso Reunion

Former Warriors goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini has said he would prefer to play for his former club Higlanders for at least one season, before he retires from football.

The 36 year old currently plays for South African side Highlands Park but his future at the club is uncertain, with indications the club would be sold.

Kapini on Thursday told NewsDay Sport that he is not thinking of retiring now and believes he still could still play at the highest level like Essam El Hadary, the Egyptian legendary goalkeeper who retired at 47 in 1998. Said Kapini:

If the worst comes to the worst and I can’t find a club in South Africa; if things get better in Zimbabwe, everyone knows my blood is black and white (Highlanders). I had some offers with other clubs in Zimbabwe, which I cannot divulge for now but if Highlanders are willing to take me, I will come and play my last season at Bosso like the legendary Joel Luphahla did, before I hang my boots. I need to play for my beloved club.

Kapini played for Bosso from 2001 to 2006 and moved to South Africa where he joined Platinum Stars and then AmaZulu before he moved to Highlands Park.

Kapini suffered a career-threatening injury which sidelined him for a huge junk of the 2019-2020 Absa Premier Soccer League.

He regained his fitness during the coronavirus-induced lockdown and managed to play the last few games of the league which ended last Saturday.
