Major Hospitals Return To 'Normalcy'

Most hospitals across the country are reportedly back to normal after the Zimbabwe Nurses Association (ZINA) early this week called on their members to end a more than two months-long strike.

Acting chief executive for Mpilo Central Hospital, Solwayo Ngwenya, on Thursday said over 90 per cent of the nurses were back at work, save for a few who had challenges with transport. He said:

We are very happy here, almost all our nurses are back at work. Only a few, less than 10 per cent, had problems with transport. But we can safely say all our nurses are back.

Last night (Wednesday) everyone who was supposed to be on duty was there which is very good and it is going to improve our service delivery.

In separate interviews, Linos Dhire of Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, Audrey Tasaranarwo of Chitungwiza Central Hospital, Fabian Mashingaidze of Gweru Provincial Hospital, and Juliet Chikurunhe of Sally Mugabe Central Hospital all said their nurses were reporting for duty as usual and that operations were back to normal.
