Ronald Koeman Appointed Barcelona Head Coach

Barcelona has named former player Ronald Koeman as its new head coach, BBC reports. Koeman who played for Barcelona between 1989 and 1995 signed a 2 year contract with the Spanish team and left his job in the Netherlands to coach Barca which for the first time in over a decade did not win La Liga’s last season’s title.

The Spanish Club also appointed Ramon Planes as the new technical director. Former Barcelona’s coach Quique SetiĆ©n was fired on Monday following the previous week’s 8-2 defeat by Bayern Munich.

Koeman has had an up and down coaching career since hanging his boots. He coached EPL teams Southampton and Everton before going back to his country to coach the national football team.
