UPDATE: Repatriation Of 4 Family Members Who Died After Drinking Smuggled Alcohol In South Africa

The bodies of four Zimbabwean men from the same family who died in South Africa recently after they allegedly consumed smuggled alcohol are set to be repatriated for burial in Binga their rural home.

The quartet was identified as Sumukai Ngwenya, Khumbulani Tshuma, Takoniwa Tshuma and Jealous Tshuma from Chisawu under Chief Sinamagonde and were resident in Doornfontein, Johannesburg.

Reason Tshuma a relative, confirmed that they were in the process of repatriating the bodies for burial in Zimbabwe. Speaking to CITE on Friday, Tshuma said:

The four deceased all from the same family are leaving today (Friday) for burial in Zimbabwe, after the memorial service.

Zimbabwe’s consul-general to Johannesburg, Melody Chaurura, also confirmed receiving a report on the incident adding that the Consulate was facilitating the repartition of the deceased’s remains to Zimbabwe.

Ms Takesure Ndlovu, a relative to the four deceased told Sunday News in an interview that the official cause of death had been listed as alcohol poisoning.
