Prison Officers Ignoring Court Order - Chin'ono's Lawyers
The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) has expressed concern over the wanton disregard of court orders by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS).
ZLHR on Sunday said ZPCS continues to selectively comply with provisions of High Court Order regarding jailed investigative journalist Hopewell Chin’ono and leader of opposition political party Transform Zimbabwe (TZ) Jacob Ngarivhume.
The High Court ruled that Chin’ono and Ngarivhume should be allowed to consult their lawyers in private and have access to doctors of their choice.
In a statement posted on its social media channels, ZLHR revealed that restrictions remain on accessing food and the duo was this Sunday denied access to relatives. ZLHR said:
The administrative restrictions on access to food have far-reaching implications. Lawyers will take further action to ensure reasonable compliance with the Court Order. Defiance of court orders is unacceptable.
