"What Happened Before Will Not Be Repeated," - VP Chiwenga Speaks On Restructuring Health Sector
Vice President and Health Minister Constantino Chiwenga has pledged to restructure the Health sector in the country to improve service delivery.
He speaks when the sector is collapsed with basic medicines in short supply while the working environment is not conducive for workers who have on numerous occasions embarked on industrial action to compel authorities to address their grievances.
The former army boss was speaking on Wednesday while on a winter maize crop assessment programme in Middle Sabi and Chiredzi district this Wednesday. He said:
I urge you to make sure we teach the community we are living in. We are restructuring the health system of Zimbabwe we want to establish rural health care facilities up to hospitals. We want together with the ministry of finance and the health services board to see that what happened before will not be repeated. For us to achieve this I need your support. We must work together. I also urge people to observe the WHO Covid 19 guidelines.
Before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, elites in the country used to go abroad for medical attention thereby attracting the wrath of the citizenry who accuse them of contributing to the collapse of the sector.
