Govt Dismisses Fake 'Travel Notice'
The government of Zimbabwe has dismissed as fake a social media report suggesting that individuals intending to travel into or out of the country are required to apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
Foreign Affairs spokesperson Constance Chemwayi dismissed the statement, which was issued by an agency called The Savvy Traveller, saying the notice was made without consulting Government. Said Chwemwayi:
We would like to draw the public’s attention to a misleading statement circulating on social media titled, ‘Application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for authority to travel’.
FeedbackThe source of that article appears to be a travel agency identified as The Savvy Traveller. The ministry would like to put it on record that it neither issued the statement nor instructed any such agent to issue that statement.
