Zim Govt Welcomes SA Envoys Sent To Assess Human Rights Violations Reports

The Zimbabwean government has said that it will cooperate with envoys that were sent by the president of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa to assess human rights abuses.

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa said there was nothing to hide so there was no reason for not cooperating. She said:

Zimbabwe has always been happy to entertain and work with envoys from our neighbour … moreso in this case when they are appointed by the president of our close sister republic.
After all, we share so much more than neighbourliness and sisterhood. We forged a common political soul as we jointly and militarily faced the scourges of settler minority rule, racism and apartheid all the way to final victory in 1994.
The envoys, former South African vice president Baleka Mbete and ex-minister Sydney Mufamadi, were appointed on Thursday amid deepening political and economic crises.
Opposition MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa welcomed the move which it described as efforts by the region to address Zimbabwe’s deepening governance and human rights crisis.
