ZRP Arrests 65 People Violating Lockdown Restrictions By Attending A Pyramid Scheme Event In Borrowdale

ZRP has revealed that they have arrested 65 people who had gathered at a place in Borrowdale for a Pyramid Scheme event ignoring government-imposed COVID-19 containment measures, The Herald reports.

ZRP also suspects the premises where the 65 were arrested from are being used to operate a pyramid scheme. Speaking about the arrests, ZRP National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said:

They were arrested in Borrowdale for violating Covid-19 regulations. They were found gathering and there was no social distancing. However police have also launched investigations to ascertain the legal status of the place where the suspects were arrested.

A few months ago ZRP arrested 2 brothers who were believed to be operating a Pyramid Scheme in Harare where people lost varying sums of money. Schemes like Amalant and Crowd1 have become popular on social media with some people claiming they are now making a living out of them.
