"Neither MDC Alliance Nor MDC-T Can Receive The $7.5 million Under Political Parties Finance Act" - Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of Zimbabwe has ruled that neither the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa nor the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe can receive the $7.5 million under the Political Parties Financial (PPF) Act until a determination has been made on the case which seeks to establish the rightful beneficiary.
This comes after the minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi earlier this month said the money was deposited into the MDC-T account controlled by Khupe and her allies.
The deposit was made after MDC Alliance had in May successfully applied for an interim order at the High Court to block MDC-T from receiving the disbursement.
The alliance had sued the Ministers of Justice and Finance who then appealed against the High Court judgment at the Supreme Court.
The PPF Act states that the money is given to each political party whose candidates received at least five per centum of the total number of votes cast in the most recent general election.

MDC Alliance says Khupe who contested under the MDC-T ticket in 2018 should not receive the money but Khupe says her reinstatement, “as the legitimate leader of the MDC-T,” means that she is entitled to receive the money.
