"July 31 Will Come And Go, Largely Without Incident," - Opinion

Bishop Lazarus, a pseudonym for an anonymous Sunday News columnist has said the opposition protests scheduled for the 31st of this month will be a non-event.

The Bishop suggested that the protests are a strategy of the country’s enemies who seek to overthrow the President Mnangagwa-led administration. Bishop Lazarus said:

Well, July 31 is now five days away; it will come and go largely without incident, but it simply represents the largely mutating strategies of the country’s sworn enemies.

They might fool impressionable millennials, who do not know the schemes and skulduggery that happen behind the scenes, and sheepishly swallow social media theatrics hook, line and sinker, but how do they think they would run rings around those who know how these evil strategies have evolved from the 1960s to now?

The protests were called by Jacob Ngarivhume of Transform Zimbabwe who said the citizenry should demonstrate to register displeasure over alleged rampant corruption by government officials.

Ngarivhume and corruption whistle-blower Hopewell Chin’ono have since been arrested for rallying the citizenry to participate in the protests.
