"He Says He Needs Time To Write His Judgement," Chin'ono's Bail Ruling Reserved

Harare Magistrate on Friday reserved the ruling on the bail application of award-winning journalist and filmmaker cum activist Hopewell Chin’ono.

The magistrate Ngoni Nduna said he needs time to write the judgment. The development was confirmed by Chin’ono’s lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa who said they expect the ruling on Saturday. She said:

He says he needs time to write his judgement. We will be told anytime. If it’s today they will come back to us but our view from what we could work out it will probably be tomorrow (Saturday).

Chin’ono was arrested on Monday, the same day Jacob Ngarivhume of Transform Zimbabwe was arrested and they were both charged with inciting public violence after rallying the citizenry to participate in anti-government protests slated for the 31st of this month.

Meanwhile, Ngarivhume was on Thursday denied bail with the court claiming that he was a danger to society after masterminding the anti-corruption protests scheduled for later this month.
