President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed the following Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC) Commissioners:

1-Prof Ruby Magosvongwe(Chairperson)

2-Ms Dumisani Mashingaidze

3-Mrs Susan Makore

4- Ms Miriam Tose Majome

We present below the statement which announced the appointments.

APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE ZIMBABWE MEDIA COMMISSION

In terms of Section 248(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President Cde ED Mnangagwa has appointed the Chairperson and members of the Zimbabwe Media Commission.

Prof Ruby Magosvongwe
Prof Magosvongwe has been appointed Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Media Commission. She obtained her Doctor of Philosophy Degree from the University of Cape Town. She is a holder of a Graduate Certificate in Education, BA General and Master of Arts Degrees from the University of Zimbabwe. Currently, she is a Director of Information and Public Relations at the University of Zimbabwe. Professor Magosvongwe has been a Commissioner at NAMA, a Board Member and Chair of the Zimbabwe International Book Fair. Her competencies include balanced judgement, effective writing skills and research, communication expertise and public speaking.

MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION
Ms Dumisani Mashingaidze

Ms Mashingaidze, a lawyer by profession, holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (B.L), a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Women’s Law, all from the University of Zimbabwe. She has experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors as a seasoned legal and corporate governance expert. She is a founding Board Member of the Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association.

Ms Mashingaidze has provided legal counsel to institutions such as Econet Wireless Private Limited, Jihan Mining Private Limited, Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, among others. She has also has had some international experience as Executive Programme Coordinator of the Africa Women Leadership Programme, an affiliate of the Africa Democratic Leadership Academy based in Pretoria, South Africa. Currently, she is the Legal and Administration Manager at the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (Pvt) Ltd.

Mrs Susan Makore

Mrs Makore holds a Master of Arts Degree in Media and Cultural Studies from the University of Natal, a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Post Graduate Diploma in Media and Communications Studies from the same University. She is currently studying towards a PhD in Business Leadership with Women’s University in Africa.

She is the Group Chief Executive Officer for AB Communications, a multi-media organisation comprising commercial radio station, ZiFM Stereo, Truck Ads Media and Mighty Movies Private Limited, the Business Times, among other media interests.

Mrs Makore has worked as a lecturer in Media and Communications at the Zimbabwe Open University, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, a Board Member for organisations that include Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe IBA, Financial Gazette and Zimbabwe Aids Presentation and Support Organisation as well as Women in Media Network at the Graca Machel Trust.

Mirriam Tose Maiome

Ms Majome IS a Lawyer and Legal Practitioner well versed in media law. She holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Planning from the Women’s University in Africa, a Bachelor of Laws f■om the University of South Africa, a Bachelor Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of Zimbabwe and a Diploma in Education from Hillside Teachers’ College.

She is an Associate Member of the Law Society of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association. Board Chairperson of Virl Microfinance Company, Board Member of Mother Patrick School Management. Her work record covers many disciplines including law practice, media and teaching.

He holds a Master of Science Degree in Development Studies. BA Degree in English and Communications, ICM Diploma in International Marketing and Diploma in Journalism, among other qualifications. Olt, Major Mbewe has worked for organisations such as Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe IBAZI. Zimbabwe National Army and Parliament of Zimbabwe as well as a member of non-governmental organisations. He
