ZRP has announced it is launching an operation to impound all motor vehicles travelling without displaying number plates as they have said they are trying to curb cases of robbery and mushika shika.

The statement which was released today reads:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has in terms of the Vehicle Licensing and egistration Act 13:14 launched an operation targeting vehicles which are moving on the roads without displaying registration number plates.

Members of the public, particularly vehicle owners and drivers, are therefore urged to ensure that their vehicles are either displaying permanent or temporary number plates as required under the law. It is disturbing to note that some commuter omnibuses have removing and hiding registration number plates in order to evade roadblocks or checkpoints. Some are even using feeder roads in both urban and rural areas as the drivers commit various offences under the current national lockdown.

We urge all law abiding citizens to drive vehicles with genuine number plates. Police officers will be strictly treating anyone driving a vehicle without registration plates with suspicion. Therefore it is incumbent upon each motorist that his or her vehicle has regigtation number plates for the smooth maintance of law and order.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police will impound all vehicles moving wiht no registration plates to curb cases of robbery, mushika shika  among others.
Let us be responsible citizens and drive vehicles with registration plates.
