Shurugwi Miner Who Headlined For Torturing His Part Time Driver To Death Dies In A Car Crash

A popular Shurugwi miner Willard Mugadza affectionately know as Dread Welly died in a car crash yesterday, the Chronicle reports. Mugadza reportedly died after the vehicle he was travelling in, driven by one Foster Machaya who also died when he lost control of the vehicle which resulted in the vehicle overturning several times just after the Gweru Mvuma tollgate.

The accident was confirmed by Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko who said:

I can confirm the death of two people including the driver who died on the 43 km peg along Gweru- Mvuma road. Machaya allegedly lost control of the vehicle which veered off the road and overturned before landing on its roof.

Mugadza and Machaya died on the spot. The second passenger escaped with some injuries and was admitted to a hospital in Gweru

Mugadza made headlines earlier this year when he reportedly hired people to torture a 24-year-old man who was his part-time driver Fabian Mabhugu who he accused of stealing his 70grams of gold valued at $3400. Fabian later died from the injuries he sustained from the 24-hour torture on 1 March. Mugadza died before Mabhugu’s postmortem was concluded as he was exhumed at his family’s instigation who said the first post mortem was tampered with.
