Vic Falls Municipality Allows Flea Markets To Re-Open

Flea markets have reportedly opened in the resort town of Vic falls after the Victoria Falls Municipality gave them the green light to go back to their vending stalls, The Chronicle reports.

However, the municipality flea market the Chinotimba market is the only one that opened while another privately-owned market Emaplankeni has allowed shop owners to open but vending stalls are still closed, according to the publication.

When contacted for comment, Vic Falls Municipality Housing and Community Services director Mr Brian Nyamande confirmed the development and said:

Yes, we have since allowed traders in the informal sector to return to the market but the conditions are that we had to fumigate and disinfect the premises before re-opening. They are under stringent control and guidance of our public health and social services teams as we try to enforce social distancing and other regulations,

Traders that spoke to the publication said they were happy to be back as they were now finding it difficult to make ends meet selling their wares from home.
