"A Coterie Of Very Corrupt Lawyers Bribe Prosecutors, Judges, Police," - Govt Official

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana has claimed that there are lawyers who bribe investing officers, judges and prosecutors thereby defeating the course of justice.

Posting on Twitter, Mangwana said;

FACT: We have a coterie of very corrupt lawyers who buy out our, investigating officers, prosecutors, magistrates and judges. They adulterate our whole justice delivery system. They are not above the law they are supposed to uphold. They help derail our anti-corruption fight.

Responding to Mangwana’s tweet, Alex Magaisa, a law lecturer in the United Kingdom said:

Secretary @nickmangwana attacked lawyers but didn’t realise it’s a double-edged knife. Bribery is an offence at both ends: he who bribes & the bribed. He is saying judges, prosecutors, police, magistrates are corrupt. He says it’s FACT. Surely he must prove it @ZACConline?

Mutumwa Mawere, a Zimbabwean entrepreneur based in South Africa, weighed in saying:

These remarks come when reports have suggested that systemic or endemic as well as individual corruption is rampant in the country, a situation that robbed the country of a golden opportunity to develop.

Zimbabwe is ranked among the worst corrupt countries in the world with government officials being the main culprits.
